The mission of the Freedom Garden is to instill in every generation a love of and devotion to America and to develop a special appreciation for those responsible for our freedom.
The Freedom Garden is a living tribute to all America veterans, although separated by generations, who continue to share a common, undeniable goal—to valiantly protect our country’s freedoms.
A Circle of Honor recognizes veterans by name and includes their military rank, branch of service and years in service. This information is inscribed on granite pillars that are titled by wars and periods of history. There are also special pillars for grouping of family members that served in the same or different periods of service.
The centerpiece of the Freedom Garden is a bronze, life-size statue of five children in a Circle of Freedom, depicting the joy of living in a free America. There is an open space between two of the children, which is an invitation for a visiting child to hold hands with the statue children, thus completing the Circle of Freedom.
The back wall of the Freedom Garden is designed to show a history of America`s conflicts and wars since World War I, events that had to be overcome to preserve freedom. This wall is called a Pathway to Freedom.
